Juan José Orueta, founder of the artisanal ice cream shop “La Obra” in Curicó, has been recognized as the best ice cream maker in Latin America in the prestigious Gelato Festival World Ranking 2024.

His dedication and skill have earned him the 23rd spot globally, surpassing other talented artisans from Brazil, Colombia, and Mexico.

Global recognition

Chilean Juan José Orueta, founder of “La Obra” in Curicó, has been highlighted among the world’s best ice cream makers, ranking 23rd in the Gelato Festival World Ranking.

This classification, which included participation from over 8,000 ice cream makers worldwide, awarded Orueta 120 points and two crowns.

Latin American competition

Orueta outperformed several prominent ice cream makers in Latin America. Breno Floriano from Brazil, with his ice cream shop “San Lorenzo,” reached the 31st spot with 99 points and one crown. A

nother Brazilian, Armando José Laiun from “Gelateria Cairu,” ranked 35th with 91 points and one crown.

Daniela Lince Ledesma from Colombia, with her ice cream shop Amor-Acuya in Medellín, obtained the 48th spot with 72 points and one crown.

Finally, Alfonso Jarero from Mexico, with “Ozio” in Mexico City, placed 74th with 44 points.

World’s best

The best ice cream maker in the world for 2024 is Adám Fazekas from “Fazekas cukraszda” in Budapest, leading the ranking with 227 points and three crowns.

Following him are Giovanna Bonazzi from “La Parona del gelato” in Parona, Italy, with 213 points, and Savannah G. Lee from “Savannah’s Gelato Kitchen” in San Francisco, USA, with 208 points.
