The hit series The Bear has set records as the most-nominated comedy show in Emmy history. Among its achievements is the contribution of Ignacia Soto-Aguilar, a talented Chilean makeup artist whose work has been crucial to the show’s success and who has unveiled a quirky detail about lead actor Jeremy Allen-White: his love for pastel de choclo.

Ignacia Soto-Aguilar, the head makeup artist for The Bear, has shared how Jeremy Allen-White, the series’ lead, has developed a special fondness for pastel de choclo, a traditional Chilean dish that Taste Atlas named the best stew in the world.

Despite living in the U.S. for several years, Ignacia remains deeply connected to her Chilean roots, often bringing traditional dishes to the set.

“Jeremy loves pastel de choclo. Every time I bring it, he gets very excited and always wants more,” says Ignacia.

But Ignacia is not only known for her culinary skills; her standout work on The Bear has earned her a historic Emmy nomination, contributing to the show’s record of 23 nominations.

In her role, Ignacia is responsible for applying makeup to actors and covering Jeremy Allen-White’s tattoos to comply with copyright regulations.

Her journey to success began with her work on the film Rage with Nicolas Cage. Years later, her meeting with Ayo Edebiri, co-star of The Bear, opened the door to an opportunity that led to her Emmy nomination.
